What: Challenging New Library Leaders: A Panel on Maintaining Professional Goals in a Time of Flux
Where: SC State Library Administrative building (the one without the lions)
When: Wednesday, April 7th, 2010 from 3:00 -5:00 PM
From Fearless Leader Chess:
I am EXTREMELY excited to announce the LISSA Symposium this year! Each year the Library and Information Science Student Association works extra hard to bring you the best speakers and this year we have FIVE. The topic for this panel originated from a concern that once we leave library school with grandiose professional goals and ideals, what happens when we hit the real world where libraries are in constant change? This is a really exciting chance to get a view of the entire scope of our profession and ask questions about where everything is heading.
Also note: this Symposium ends with enough time to attend the Deans and Director's Lecture with the wonderful Dr. Michael Stephens that evening at 6:00PM in the Callcott Social Sciences Center (http://www.libsci.sc.edu/deans_directors/index.htm).
The panel consists of representatives from:
Academic Libraries - Morgan Montgomery from Claflin University
Public Libraries - Drucilla Carter from Chesterfield County Library (SC)
Archives - Georgette Mayo from Avery Research Center for African American History and Culture - College of Charleston
Special Libraries - Reece Dano from Ziba Design
School Libraries - Kristen Lawson from Chapin Elementary School
